We love the 90’s

If you haven’t guessed from the title, yes We Love the 90’s!  And while there are hundreds of things that make this decade so awesome – Friends, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The Simpsons, Star Wars, Pretty Woman, pagers, Discman, iMac, Super Soaker – just to name a few, we’re turning our attention on what this next couple of ours is most fond of about the time period of their youth: gangsta rap.  That’s right – 2pac, Notorious B.I.G., Bone Thugs-N-Harmony – and if you’re an O.G. L.A. native who grew up in the 90’s, you know just how tight this music was.  So don’t hate as I use some slang from the 90’s, but for both our sakes, I’ll stop making you uncomfortable with my awkward attempts.

With that being said, meet Ally & Evan!  Both have such big personalities and definitely know how to have a good time.  Now, how would we know that?  Well, Janet and I actually met Ally back in college when she came down to visit San Diego with a mutual friend.  We somehow decided to make a very random and very last-minute trip down to Rosarito to find a lobster restaurant that everyone from SD knew about, and ended up staying out pretty late… You can probably figure out why, I mean look where we were…

Fast forward 7 years later, and we randomly run into Ally in Downtown L.A. and reminisce about the last time we saw each other.  She introduces us to Evan, and now we get to help them throw the biggest party of their lives, also known as their wedding!  And knowing Ally & Evan, their guests are probably going to keep it rockin with all that 90’s hip-hop and rap!  We can’t wait!  love, erica

Ohana means Family

As we share these next E-session photos taken by Jay of Chocolate Photography, I can’t help but grin from ear to ear!  Rick is one of my older cousins, and as kids growing up, I looked up to him with a sort of fearful awe.  We were separated by an invisible “age line” that divided the older cousins from the younger ones, and I didn’t make the cut-off.  He was, in my opinion, “too cool for school” and it wasn’t until much later after I graduated from college that I got to know him a little better.  That being said, I can’t help but giggle seeing my “cool” cousin look so lovey-dovey!

So along came Jennifer ~ kind, sweet, soft-spoken, and so thoughtful!  I wondered, “How did he get so lucky and meet such a nice girl?!”  And after being introduced to ALL the relatives, I thought we might scare her off with our loud personalities, but she stuck with us and now she’s part of the family!  Many blessings on your marriage ~ and no pressure, but I can’t wait to babysit your future little ones!

love, erica

twirl+kiss

Hello everyone, remember us? Yes, it has been ages since our last blog post. To those that do read this blog, we hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive us. As you can see, we definitely are not bloggers, but we promise that from here on out we will try out best to keep this updated.

So much has been going on in all of our lives that it’s been pretty crazy but a huge blessing as well. I, for one, am now a baby mama to Ethan, the sweetest boy ever, and Erica and Christine have been busy with so many new and exciting things that it’s hard to keep track (being an auntie to Ethan is one among many other things. hehe).

We are behind in showing off some of our amazing couples, so without further ado, I present to you…

Hanna and Andrew

Hanna’s older brother, who is also named Andrew, and I were friends from elementary school, so although I didn’t know Hanna personally, I always knew who she was. Fast forward twenty years… I joined a small group at a new church and lo and behold, Hanna was in the same small group. We recognized each other and soon became friends. I had always thought of her as Andrew’s younger sister, but getting to know Hanna for who she is was a huge delight for me. She is not only one of the most thoughtful people, but has such a compassionate heart that never ceases to amaze. It only makes sense that Andrew (not her brother Andrew!) would want to marry such an amazing girl. But Andrew is also an amazing guy, which makes Hanna equally as lucky! While on dates, Andrew will randomly stop Hanna, look her in the eye, twirl her around and give her a kiss. How sweet is that?! It’s like Robert Doisneau’s photograph come to life!  An ongoing love and life story, Hanna and Andrew aren’t afraid to show their love for one another by sealing it  with a twirl+kiss.

There’s No Place Like Home

Back in July, we blogged about our first consultation meeting with Selina & Jeff  and mentioned how Selina has an eye for all things beautiful and that their home was enough for us to want to be a part of this dynamic duo’s wedding adventure. Selina and Jeff are the coolest people ever and have their own unique sense of style. It’s no wonder that they decided to shoot their engagement session in their own home and neighborhood. Not only is it the perfect location to capture such sweet intimate moments, but it also reflects how sweet and comfortable they are as couple! *Oh, and of course, it wouldn’t be complete without a few photos of Boombox too! 🙂

Jeff made the “JS” sign and Selina, with the help of good friends, made the pom-poms. Keep an eye out for these DIY projects, which will be making another appearance in Selina & Jeff’s wedding pictures!!!

We hope you enjoyed these photos taken by Mary from Floataway Studios!

LACMA Engagement Session

Our next couple grew up right here in Los Angeles!

And since we’re from the City of Angels ourselves, we chatted away with Jia about mutual friends for a good chunk of our first meeting.

Jia was actually referred to us by her high school friend Susan, whose daughter Adyson had just celebrated a First Birthday back in February that we designed (yup! we do baby birthdays too!)

When we finally got around to talking about wedding planning, Jia let us know that she and Woojoo wanted two very special little members of their family to play a role in their ceremony…

Their dogs, Bomee and Sofie, will be their Ring Bearer and Flower Girl, and we can’t wait to see these little ones all dressed up for Jia & Woojoo’s Wedding!

Now for the photos ~ What better place for two Angeleños to take their engagement photos than at LACMA!!

Max of Film Foto Fusion took some amazing photos of Jia & Woojoo, and they felt so comfortable and had a great time!  Thanks Max!

LOVE at First Sight

Julie and John first met at church while both serving in the children’s ministry.  It was literally LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT when John noticed her and her heart for children.  So it wasn’t too long until he asked her out on a date, they started talking about marriage, and before we knew it, John proposed to Julie on her birthday at her favorite place in the world, Disneyland!

Having known Julie for several years, and even watching these two grow together in their relationship, we are so happy for them and can’t wait for their wedding!  We’ve shared many many laughs and tears with Julie over good meals and yummy desserts (she happens to be a pastry chef) over the past years, and feel confident that both of them will continue to love, learn, serve and grow for years and years to come.

John, take good care of her!  And Julie, make sure John eats his vegetables… actually, make sure you both do that…

Photos from their engagement session w/John Park

Don’t you LOVE her red dress?!  Every girl should have a LRD (little RED dress) in addition to a LBD!

Can’t wait for your wedding, and so glad we can enjoy your special day with you!

Marie & Wayne: Part 1

A couple months ago, we had the privilege of being a part of Marie & Wayne’s special day. From our very first meeting, they made us laugh with their funny antics and bickering banter. We could see the comfortable love between the two and were touched by Wayne’s story of selling his beloved weekend car to propose to Marie with a customized ring. Of course she said “yes”!

Here are a few photographs from their e-session taken by the wonderful Mike Kim.

Stay tuned for Marie & Wayne’s wedding!

Tug at the Heartstrings

The somewhat gloomy, atypical Southern California weather was worrying us a bit during the past couple months,

but thank goodness now for the bright sunshine and beach-perfect weather!

And of course, with Summer comes more happy couples and wedding celebrations!

One of our next couples, Hanaya & Darren, are particularly close to my heart.

Hanaya and I met in junior high, when I moved into the neighborhood and started attending the same school.

Luckily, we had a mutual friend who also lived in our neighborhood, and the three of us hung out a lot together.

Like the Three Stooges, only not as foolish… or like Uncle Scrooge’s grandnephews Huey, Dewey, & Louie, but not so rambunctious…

or maybe like the Three Musketeers, just not quite as handsome or gallant…

so you get the idea… basically, we were quiet, shy, little girls who got along really well and were such chatterboxes together,

that our parents wondered why our teachers never commented, “Talks too much in class.”

So, when we found out about Darren, we wanted to make sure he was good enough for our Hanaya.

And we’re glad to say, Hanaya’s met her match in Darren.

As sweet and giving as she is, we know that he’s just as loving and caring, and I’m so excited to see them share their vows!

Here are a couple photos from their engagement shoot with Adrienne Gunde!

Thanks Hanaya for having me be a part of your wedding day!

love,

erica

Christine & Eric

My dear friend Christine is getting married! I’ve known Christine since elementary school and although we haven’t consistently kept in touch, every time we do meet and get together it’s as if nothing has changed and we just pick up where we left off. I think these types of friendships are so precious as it is a true testament to how comfortable you are with someone and despite the periods of quiet, it shows that friendship doesn’t always mean proximity. I’m so excited for her and look forward to being a part of the planning process for her Big Day.

Christine is truly one of the most lovable people you’ll meet. It only makes sense that she met an equally lovable guy, Eric! Although, I’ve only met Eric once, his care and thoughtfulness for Christine is quite evident! It’s surprising that such a sweet couple could be criminal lawyers!!!

Christine and Eric are such a cute couple, with a great sense of humor!

Thanks to Studio Q for the photos below:

Can’t wait for 2011!
