Perfect Balance

You’ve probably heard of birth order and how what position/number child you’re born as in your family has a strong affect on how your personality develops.  Some of you may disagree, and you’re entitled to your own opinions, but I believe much of what these studies shows is true.  Now why would I bring this up in a blog about weddings and happy couples?

Well, when we met Jina & Jesse, I couldn’t help but think how applicable certain characteristics were for each of them.  Jina, the youngest, seemed very fun-loving and lightened Jesse’s more serious, organized firstborn tendencies.  Add onto that the idea that couples with firstborn-youngest pairings seem to match well and balance each other out, and you’ve got Jina & Jesse!

Being native Angelenos, they chose to take their photos in two very iconic LA locations ~ Union Station and Santa Monica.  Now as you look through their engagement photos, taken by Eric Fung, doesn’t it seem like they’re in a (Korean) drama?!  So dramatic and romantic, just like Jesse :p

Erica & Elliot

We’ve always been connected in some way to our couples through mutual friends and varying degrees of separation, and our story with Erica & Elliot is no different.  A friend, who also happens to be another one of our brides, introduced us to Erica who was a fellow Bruin.  After we met Erica and her twin sister(!), we found out that another good friend of ours was her roommate at Loma Linda where she had gone to Pharmacy School, and would also be a bridesmaid.  But the best part of getting to know her was when I found out we had the same first and last names.  It’s not too often you get to meet a person who shares your exact namesake!

The tricky part about that was trying not to make things confusing when any of us referred to each other.  Plus Erica asked us to help with her wedding paperie, and to be honest, it was a bit strange to see my name written hundreds of times as getting married to Elliot.  While we were assembling all the paperie, my sister happened to be visiting from DC, saw the work we were doing, and asked me in an oddly serious tone if there was something I wasn’t telling her!

Erica & Elliot, thank you for having us be part of your wedding day!

The couple that endures

The moment you meet Hannah and Jin you know they have endless love, respect, compassion and patience for each other. Throughout their 12 years of dating, they have seen it all and grown more in love through the endurance that comes from not always being able to see each other.

Jin is on active duty for the United States Air Force. He was deployed in the past and they both have had to face the struggles of being apart as well as fear for Jin’s safety and hope for his return. Nevertheless, they made it through those hard times and made the best decision of their lives to get engaged!

We are so honored to play a part on their special day to witness these two finally tie the knot. You just can’t get enough of Hannah’s joyful spirit and Jin’s cool demeanor. These two are truly addicting as a couple and  we can’t wait to see what is to come of them in the future.

Hanna & Andrew

About a month ago, I went to New York for my niece’s first birthday and while visiting, I had a chance to grab lunch with Hanna. We caught up on life and I was happy to hear that her and Andrew’s love and life story continues to be filled with many blessings, encouraging people and precious moments. I can’t believe Hanna and Andrew have been married for eight months now. It feels like only yesterday when we were Google video-chatting [from New York to Los Angeles] to go over the wedding details.

Hanna and Andrew’s wedding was truly a testimony of who they are as people and who they are as a couple. Not only are they fun and can dance the night away, but they are humble and God-centered. The ceremony was not a reflection of themselves but who they are in Christ and all glory and praise went to the Lord. It personally challenged me to remember Christ in all things: my daily life, my marriage, my work. I am so blessed for Hanna and Andrew’s friendship and am so excited that we were able to be a part of their special day.

We loved it when Andrew shared a moment of prayer with Hanna after the pouring of sand to symbolize two becoming one.

Hanna and Andrew’s wedding had touches of an “Alice in Wonderland” theme.
